They feel embarrassed and alone and not vulnerable enough to share our pain with others. We all need to remember just how tall and powerful and loving our God is. The conclusion was unsatisfying and the novel continued past more than one good stopping place. While they did not strike it rich, they learned a lot and had an enjoyable time. This is an excellent read for the genre. (It's like The Sixth Sense [4] of literary criticism. I shall not lie, this book made me cry a few times, especially the ending. These could have been fixed with a good proof reader or editor who could have clarified some of the descriptions. I remembered them as babes and I cried at the enveloping feeling of joy and love for them. Lucy misses her husband, and eventually her loneliness starts to affect her decisions and she makes some poor choices.
