" They tore that place up. This might have been a four star read, even in spite of the abundance of errors and other previously mentioned issues, simply because I appreciated the author's effort to develop strong and realistic characters with deep back stories, but in the end, I'm left a little ambivalent due to the mistakes made in not polishing this gem quite as much as it needed.

I'm not sure where I would place this book in the sequence of time in the series, but it was delightful and thought provoking. As example: "It was lightly drizzling, or misting, or whatever it's called when minuscule bits of water, too fine to feel distinct drops, are drifting down out of the sky. Chief among them, of course, are the novels Quicksand and Passing. Genre: mystery thriller. Like in all Christian fiction, you've got some idea of what is going to happen (a main character who thinks about becoming a Christian isn't going to suddenly change his mind in these books, for example), but Hill's story-telling is unexpectedly fresh and vibrant. This consideration of values comes into play as Dunayevskaya argues forcefully against the planning mentality as seen in Soviet Russia and Maoist China. But after an accident, Chance discovers a side of horse racing that has little to do with glory. It is hard to portray what it's like to be up there in a Hurricane with enemy fighters after you, but Dahl does it with aplomb. I have always considered myself to be rather intelligent, and more than competent to write a resume.
