If you've not read any other books in this series, you might not realize that there is always a touch of mysticism in a Bryant and May novel. Cute and funny, not as crude as some people say, Chelsea's sarcasm shines though at time but with charm to it, she has wit and brains too, always trying to keep her head up, trying to be nice to everyone and supporting her friends best as she can. The book reads like a journalistic research report , not storytelling. It was well written and the art is awesome. The book uses the speculated authorship link between the VM and Roger Bacon to present a wonderful snd authoritative account of Roger Bacon, his life and times. I loved every minute of it, laughed out loud, cried a little, read passages to my husband and tried to figure out what I tell others about why they should read it.
